The Phoenix Suns will forfeit their second-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft after the league understood the team held talks with free agent Drew Eubanks before the June 30 deadline, the NBA announced. This is against the league rules, therefore Suns will be penalized with losing their pick next summer.
The 26-year-old center agreed to a two-year contract with an option for a second season. Eubanks played 78 games for the Portland Trail Blazers during the 2022-23 season, averaging 6.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.
The Phoenix #Suns have been charged with tampering, and a second-round draft pick (originally Denver’s, acquired from Orlando) has been rescinded. Phoenix was found to have engaged in free agency discussions with Drew Eubanks before they were allowed. #ComingInHot pic.twitter.com/e3kbRPyhZb

The Suns, who have fully cooperated in the investigation, acquired the draft pick originally owned by the Denver Nuggets from the Orlando Magic in a previous trade.
