The Scandinavian team relied on Amanda Ilestedt’s goal in the last minute to secure a 2-1 victory in their debut match at the forum vs. South Africa.
Ilestedt netted again as she was the 1st player to score near the end of the 1st half, and the Swedish team scored 4 goals in only 11 minutes, including the opening goal. Amanda scored her 2nd goal in the 50th minute as she did it again with a header after a corner as that’s how she netted her 1st goal against Italy.
Rebecka Blomqvist was the last goal scorer as she netted Sweden’s 5th goal in stoppage time.
Sweden advanced to the knockout rounds from Group G, while Argentina, Italy, and South Africa still have a chance to join the Scandinavian team and progress.
Sweden have announced themselves at the #FIFAWWC!
