World number one Iga Swiatek defended her title at the Stuttgart tennis tournament.
In a replay of last year’s final, Swiatek once again defeated Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka 6:3, 6:4. The match lasted a little less than two hours. The Pole became the first tennis player to defend the title since Angelique Kerber in 2016, and the trophy in Stuttgart is her third in 2023 and the 13th overall from the WTA tournaments.
Swiatek and Sabalenka demonstrated a very high level of tennis, and the first set was decided by a break of the leader in the world ranking for 5:3.
In the second part, the Polish tennis player made an early breakthrough, took a 2:0 lead and held onto her lead until the end, winning the match on her first match point.
