Swiatek started the match poorly as she lost her 2nd serve in the clash and allowed Kenin to lead 3-1 games, but the world number 1 tied it 3-3. Swiatek lost her serve again, and Sofia led 5-4, but when the American was serving for the 1st set, Iga broke her serve and tied the game again.
The 1st set was decided after a tiebreak as the Polish tennis player dominated and won it 7-2 points.
In the 2nd set, things were a lot easier for Swiatek as she converted 2 break points from 4 opportunities to win the set 6-2 and, with that, the match in straight sets.
Iga will play in the 2nd of the Australian Open against Danielle Collins or Angelique Kerber.
