The Miami Dolphins and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa have reportedly agreed to a four-year, $212.4 million contract extension, according to multiple sources. This deal includes $167 million in guaranteed money, making it the largest contract in Dolphins history. The extension’s average annual salary of $53.1 million sets a new NFL record for a four-year deal.

Tagovailoa, 26, had an impressive 2023 season, leading the NFL with 4,264 passing yards. He started all 17 games, achieving an 11-6 record, and completed 69.3 percent of his passes with 29 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Drafted in the first round (fifth overall) by Miami in 2020, Tagovailoa has amassed 12,639 passing yards, 81 touchdowns, and 37 interceptions over 53 career games (51 starts).
Tagovailoa also made his NFL playoff debut last season, completing 20 of 39 passes for 199 yards with one touchdown and one interception in a 26-7 wild-card loss against the Kansas City Chiefs.
