With this win, the USA topped Group C and earned the highest seed in the group stage, setting up a quarterfinal clash against Brazil, who finished third in Group B.
Anthony Edwards led the American team with his best performance of the Olympics, scoring a game-high 26 points on 11-for-15 shooting, along with 3 rebounds and 3 assists in just 17 minutes of play. Joel Embiid, who was benched in the previous game against South Sudan, contributed 15 points on 6-for-14 shooting.
LeBron James had an all-around game, recording 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists, while Kevin Durant added 11 points.
For Puerto Rico, Jose Alvarado was the top scorer with 18 points on 7-for-13 shooting. Aleem Ford and Ismael Romero each added 10 points.
