Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag remarked on the emerging synergy between Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford following their contributions in Sunday’s 2-2 Premier League draw against Tottenham Hotspur. Hojlund opened the scoring early, which was later canceled out by Richarlison. Rashford then regained the lead for United, only for Rodrigo Bentancur to level the score again.
While Hojlund has netted two league goals this season and Rashford four, their collaboration in the build-up to each other’s goals suggests the development of a promising partnership. Ten Hag expressed his hope for the continued progress of this partnership, emphasizing the importance of developing routines, especially in the front line where quick decisions are crucial.
He noted, “You see they are coming up with routines – that is what you need. You need it everywhere but especially in the front line, where there are tight areas and quick decisions have to be made. In a split second, you need the right decisions, so you need that intuition.”
Ten Hag highlighted the impact of front players scoring on the entire team, emphasizing that when they struggle to score, it affects the team’s confidence. Manchester United’s next fixture is on January 28 in an FA Cup fourth-round tie against either Newport County or Eastleigh.
