Erik ten Hag believes the ‘strong character’ of Andre Onana will be important for him to bounce back from the mistakes he made in Manchester United’s Champions League clash with Galatasaray.
The goalkeeper was at fault in all three goals he conceded in Istanbul, leaving his team with a 3-3 draw, despite the Red Devils being ahead by two goals twice during the game.
“You have seen how he reacts to a bad performance because after the Bayern Munich match, he was outstanding against Burnley. He has a strong character and personality, so he will manage,” Ten Hag said.
🔴 Ten Hag on André Onana: “He is a strong character, he will deal with it. All over in the first five months he has done well”.
“If you analyse it well then you see he is the second-best GK in Premier League based on stats, his expected preventing goals is second-best in PL”. pic.twitter.com/o2LIkBunR3

“If you analyze things, you’ll see he’s second in the Premier League in terms of expected goals prevented, so yes, he’s doing well.”, he added.
“He knows that in the Champions League he made some mistakes, but in general you will see that in the first five months he is doing relatively well,” Ten Hag concluded after being asked about Onana’s recent performance.
