The 26-year-old returned to the squad after missing the Champions League clash midweek due to suspension, but failed to make any sort of impact on the match before being subbed off at the one hour mark.
He has bagged only 2 goals this campaign and the lack of commitment is a big concern for both the club and the fans.
“I will talk to him and not the media,” Ten Hag said.
“I don’t go into individual performances. I knew this issue was coming up and Marcus is investing a lot. He will return to his form, he will recover and he gets all our support.”
The Red Devils succumbed to yet another league defeat and they currently 7th in the table with only 24 points.
