Erik ten Hag described his first meeting with Sir Jim Ratcliffe as “very positive” but acknowledged that he still needs to learn more about the billionaire’s plans for Manchester United.
Ratcliffe’s group, INEOS, will take control of the football operations at the club as soon as the deal to acquire 25% of the shares in the Red Devils is approved by the Premier League. The richest person in the UK is in Manchester this week for a series of meetings with the leadership of the club.
“It was very positive, I must admit. We had a lengthy conversation, discussed many issues, and on many of them, we are on the same page, so things went really positively. I think the dialogue was constructive from both sides, and we look forward to working with them. We have to let things unfold naturally because they have just arrived and are still getting acquainted with the situation. They have good ideas. We need to see what we can integrate. They themselves gave me some ideas; we debated strategies, and I think we will reach a consensus,” commented the Dutch manager of United.
Meanwhile, Ten Hag declined to comment on the situation surrounding Jadon Sancho, who is set to return to Borussia Dortmund on loan until the end of the season. “I can’t tell you anything on that topic. We have to wait and see how things develop, and when we have news, of course, we will let you know,” he added.
