The Red Devils lost 3-4 in London with two stoppage-time goals

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag spoke following the heart-stopping 3-4 defeat against Chelsea. The Red Devils held a 3-2 lead until the dying moments of the game when Cole Palmer netted two goals in added time. According to the Dutch coach, the loss was disappointing, but his team demonstrated they can play football at a high level.

“Yes, we started poorly and didn’t defend as we should have. However, you saw that afterwards, we began to dominate. Our performance was brilliant, and we deserved to win. We can’t let victory slip away like that. We need to learn to control matches,” stated Ten Hag.

“It’s easy to blame a single player, but this is a team game. When chaos ensues, the whole team needs to cope, and we made the wrong decisions and didn’t help each other. We lacked concentration in our off-the-ball game, and it proved fatal. Additionally, the opponent was lucky with the penalty at the end. The decision was questionable, but we should have performed better,” he added.

“The loss is disappointing, but we showed that we play football at a high level. Results are crucial, and we need to start winning regularly,” Ten Hag further remarked. He also mentioned that there is still uncertainty regarding the condition of injured players Raphael Varane and Johnny Evans.
