Thomas Chabot from Ottawa Senators will be sidelined for ‘couple of weeks’ due to an upper-body injury, effectively ending the season for him.
Head coach D.J. Smith already announced the fitness issues Chabat had on Wednesday, but didn’t clarify up to what extend would the 26-year old be out of play.
Chabot picked up his injury in Monday’s game against Florida after an unfortunate collision with Nick Cousins.
Tyler Kleven is expected to fill the void left by Chabot as he will be looking to make his NHL debut against Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday.
Chabot has 41 points (11 goals, 30 assists) and 52 penalty minutes in 68 games this season. He has 229 points (53 goals, 176 assists) in 381 career games, all with the Senators.
Ottawa are currently five points behind second-placed team in the Eastern Division Pittsburgh and are in a desperate fight to secure a wild-card spot. For that to happen they need to leapfrog Buffalo and the Panthers in the remaining 8 games.
