Klay’s move to Mavs comes as part of a multiteam ink-and-trade that will also send Dallas guard Josh Green to the Hornets. Dallas and Golden State are still working through details of the exchange, which will also feature Charlotte sending Mavericks two 2nd-round selections for Josh. One of those selections could end up with the Warriors.
Klay had a 4-year offer with greater salary, but earning less was offset by the possibility of triumphing with 5th title with Dallas as well as the taxes of the income in Texas compared to California.
Thompson (34) is 1 of the greatest shooters in the league history and was part of 1 of the best shooting backcourt in the history of the NBA alongside Steph Curry.
Klay was the 2nd-longest-tenured basketballer with his current organization, behind only Steph, before becoming a free agent.
