Tony DeAngelo has been put on unconditional waivers by his team the Philadelphia Flyers after just one year after he was acquired from Carolina.
Last July the defenseman signed a two-year contract, worth $10m, which as things stand looks unlikely to be fulfilled.
DeAngelo bagged 42 goals and 31 assists last campaign in 70 outings, which ranks him 6th in the Flyers overall list. The Philadelphia team finished 14th in the Eastern Conference missing out on the playoffs for a third consecutive campaign.
The Flyers made an attempt to send the 27-year-old back to Carolina, but the NHL didn’t allow it as less than a year had passed after his transfer.
Drafted 19th overall in the first round by Tampa Bay in 2014, DeAngelo also played four seasons with the New York Rangers and one with Arizona. He has 199 career points with 154 assists.
