Tottenham Hotspur have secured the signing of midfielder Archie Gray from Leeds United for approximately £30 million, with defender Joe Rodon heading to Leeds in a separate deal valued at around £10 million.
Gray has committed to a contract with Spurs that runs until 2030. Leeds confirmed that Tottenham met a release clause in Gray’s contract, which was activated due to the club’s failure to secure promotion back to the Premier League. This sale is crucial for Leeds, ensuring their compliance with profit and sustainability regulations after their loss to Southampton in the Championship play-off final.

Tottenham outmaneuvered Brentford in the race to sign the highly-rated 18-year-old Gray, who featured in 52 matches across all competitions for Leeds last season, playing both in midfield and at right-back. Gray had already begun his medical at Brentford’s training facility, but Leeds rejected Brentford’s offer due to issues with the payment structure and add-ons, leading to Spurs finalizing the deal.
This transfer is a significant move for both clubs. Leeds United, facing financial pressures following their play-off defeat, have managed to secure crucial funds through the sale of a promising young talent. Meanwhile, Tottenham have added a versatile and promising player to their squad while also offloading Joe Rodon, who will have the opportunity for more game time at Leeds.
