Stefanos Tsitsipas, world number 12, defeated world number 5, Alexander Zverev, 2-0 sets in a matchup from the 1/8 finals of the Masters 1000 on clay in Monte Carlo and the Greek advanced to the ¼ finals where he will face Karen Khachanov who eliminated Daniil Medvedev earlier today.

The 1st set was very competitive as only 1 break was enough for Tsitsipas to win it and it happened when Zverev served to make it 6-6 and to force a tiebreak.
This definitely affected Alexander, and he started in the worst way possible in the 2nd set as the Greek won the 1st 5 games in the set and even had a match ball to win it 6-0, but Zverev saved it and won his 1st game in the set to make it 5-1. The German won the next 4 games and tied the result and, after that, forced a tiebreak, but Stefanos won the tiebreak and the match.
That was the 15th match between Stefanos and Alexander, as Tsitsipas had won 10 of these games as that was the 3rd victory on clay for the Greek as the German had only 1 triumph on clay against him.
