Two-time NHL champion Andrew Ladd has announced his retirement.
With a post on social networks, the 37-year-old Ladd announced his decision and said that the time had come “to open a new chapter of my career”.
Ladd won a Stanley Cup with the Carolina Hurricanes in his rookie season in the league in 2006, as well as with the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2009/10 season. Immediately following his second title triumph, Ladd joined the Atlanta Thrashers and was almost immediately named captain of the team.
The left winger suffered a major blow in 2019 when he tore the cruciate ligaments in his knee while playing for the New York Islanders. The forward last played for the Arizona Coyotes in the 2021/22 season, recording seven goals and five assists in 51 games.

In his career, Andrew Ladd has 1,001 NHL games with 256 goals and 294 assists. He has 65 more games in the playoffs with 9 goals and 9 assists.
