Tyson Fury could be forced to face Anthony Joshua if he wants to keep his titles. The Gypsy King is currently preparing to fight former UFC titleholder Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia on October 28. Everyone expects that after the fight with the Cameroonian, Fury will agree a clash with Oleksandr Usyk for a unifying fight for all the titles. The Ukrainian now holds the WBA, WBO and IBF belts.
However, the latest update of the WBC rankings put Deontay Wilder as Fury’s number one contender, with Joshua second on the list and Andy Ruiz dropping to fifth. This means that if AJ and The Bronze Bomber do finally step on the ring against each other, they will face off in one final eliminator to decide Fury’s next mandatory challenger for the WBC.
The winner will get a chance against Fury, and if he refuses to face the winner, he could be stripped of his belt, according to the Daily Star.
Deontay Wilder & Anthony Joshua are now #1 & #2 respectively in the new WBC rankings meaning whoever wins a potential fight between the pair will be mandatory for Tyson Fury 🥊

The latest update to the WBC rankings comes at a time when Joshua’s fight with Wilder is at risk of failure, according to a recent update from the Briton’s promoter Eddie Hearn. Skills Challenge Entertainment, who Hearn had been negotiating with, was replaced by a new entity that booked Fury’s fight with Ngannou.
“Everyone has agreed to the terms, but until the money is secured, the fight will not happen,” he said. “There is movement in the management and ownership of boxing in Saudi Arabia and it is up to them what they want to do. If they don’t want to deal with Joshua-Wilder, maybe they’ll go somewhere else, but it’s one of the biggest fights in heavyweight boxing.”, Hern added.
