Mike Tyson is keeping the fire around the fight between Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou burning. The clash will be on October 28 in Saudi Arabia and the heavyweight legend trains boxing debutant Ngannou, who will go through the ropes as a huge underdog against the undefeated WBC champion.
The Brit recently said it was upsetting that the man he was named after was in the opposite corner. “I think it’s sad actually. The guy I’m named after, a legend, has to face me and then go out as a loser after losing to a guy who’s named after him. I think that’s sad and I think he should be in my corner, not the opponent’s.”
Fury continued by saying that it doesn’t matter what the heavyweight legend teaches Ngannou, the result will be the same.
Asked about the idea of facing his namesake by TNT Sports, Mike Tyson was quick to respond. “It’s a business and he understands.”
“I think Ngannou will do very well. Listen, it’s all a trial, he’s struggling, he just has to remember not to use his legs, which he never really did. He has a real power punch. He’s very fast for a big guy. I just think he’s going to do better than most people believe.”
