UEFA President Aleksandar Ceferin has responded to growing criticism about the increasingly packed football calendar, particularly following the announcement of the expanded Club World Cup and the surge in injuries among top European players.
Ceferin (UEFA president): “Players complaining about the calendar? Who is complaining? Those who have higher salaries and those who have 25 top-level players. Those who earn less and only have 11 players don’t complain and they love to play.” pic.twitter.com/BhGOmZmyka

Speaking ahead of the European Club Association (ECA) General Assembly, Ceferin acknowledged the problem, stating, “We have to admit that the fixture calendar has reached maximum capacity. We’ve reached the limit. For the teams that play the most, there are no more dates available.”
Despite this, Ceferin also took a swipe at some players, saying, “But who complains about this? Those who receive the highest salaries and the clubs that have 25 high-level players each. Those who earn less and the clubs with 11 players don’t complain and love to play.”
