The Ukrainian Football Association appealed to FIFA and UEFA to exclude the Russian Football Union from their ranks, TASS reported.
“We have introduced you to details of illegal actions of Russia regarding the Ukrainian state and football. In particular, about the integration of football clubs from Crimea in the Russian championship. The permission to carry out such actions will actually show disregard for the positions and decisions of FIFA and UEFA. We appeal to FIFA and UEFA to consider the possibility of depriving the Russian Football Union of its membership due to proven non-compliance with the statutes of the governing bodies of world and European football and the values of the football family,” the association’s position reads.
On June 1, Sevastopol received a certificate for participation in the Second League, and on June 6, a similar document was issued to Rubin from Yalta.
UEFA decided that the Crimean football clubs would remain in the championships of the region. Crimean Football Union was established in July 2015 with the support of the European headquarters.
On February 22, 2022, FIFA and UEFA banned Russian clubs and the national team from participating in international tournaments due to the situation in Ukraine. On June 22, the adviser on the affairs of the national associations to UEFA, Josef Kliment, expressed hope for a soon return of the Russians to the competitions.
