Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has admitted he was the main culprit behind his side’s Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich. The German side scored twice in four minutes in the first half at the Allianz Arena to cruise to a 4-3 win in their Group A opener.
Andre Onana was the #UCL‘s most effective goalkeeper last season, preventing an additional 7.8 goals in Inter’s run to the final.
Yet already this season he has conceded 3.4 more than expected.
The pressure is on him but he is far from #MUFC‘s only problem.

A mistake by the Cameroon international allowed the hosts to open the scoring when he failed to catch the ball after winger Leroy Sane’s strike.
“It’s hard to lose like this because we started very well in the beginning. After my mistake, we lost control of the game,” Onana told TNT Sports.
“The situation is difficult and especially for me because I’m the one who disappointed everyone in the team. But the team was very good, it’s just because of me they didn’t win this game. Now we have to move on. That’s the life of a goalkeeper and if we didn’t win today , it’s because of me,” he added.

“I have to learn from this and be strong. It’s not easy, but I’m very happy for the team’s return to the tournament. We fought until the end, but I have to admit that because of me we didn’t win. I have a lot to prove , because to be honest, the start in Manchester is not as good as I want. Today was one of my worst games and it is difficult because we have big ambitions, we are a very big club and we want to win everything,” said Onana.
