In its final match before the 2024 Paris Olympics, Team USA managed to fend off a strong challenge from Germany, finishing its exhibition tour with a flawless 5-0 record.
Germany held an 82-81 lead with under four minutes left in the fourth quarter, but the United States rallied, thanks largely to LeBron James.
The 39-year-old, who is Team USA’s flagbearer and oldest player on the roster, scored the team’s final 11 points on 4-of-4 shooting.
James ended the game with a game-high 20 points, leading the U.S. to a 92-88 victory. He also contributed six rebounds, four assists, a steal, and a block.

Five other U.S. players scored in double figures: Joel Embiid with 15 points, Stephen Curry with 13, and Anthony Davis and Anthony Edwards adding 11 and 10 points respectively. Overall, the United States shot 49.28% from the field (34-69), compared to Germany’s 35.8% shooting (29-81).
Germany’s effort was led by Franz Wagner, the young Orlando Magic star, who scored 18 points and added seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
Team USA’s next game will be against Serbia in the group stage of the 2024 Paris Olympics, scheduled for 11:15 a.m. ET on July 28.
