Tyson Fury suffered a dramatic split-decision points defeat to Oleksandr Usyk, who became boxing’s first four-belt undisputed heavyweight champion, on a memorable night in Saudi Arabia.
Fury started the fight strong but faced significant adversity in the ninth round when Usyk launched a fierce onslaught, leading to Fury receiving a standing 10 count and being saved by the bell.

As the scorecards were read out, the atmosphere was tense. Fury appeared confident in his victory, while a stony-faced Usyk awaited the verdict.
When the decision was announced, Usyk broke down in tears, having won by scores of 115-112 and 114-113 on two judges’ cards, with the third judge scoring it 114-113 in favor of Fury.
This marked Fury’s first loss in his 16-year professional career. However, he will have an immediate chance for redemption with a rematch planned for later this year.
Usyk, now holding the WBC belt in addition to his WBA, WBO, and IBF titles, remains unbeaten. At 37, he is the first boxer in nearly 25 years to be recognized as the sole heavyweight world champion.
