Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk shared he is yet to hold discussions over a deal extension with the team but claimed he has no plans to leave the Reds in the offseason.
Virgil is approaching the final year of his current contract and, with head coach Jurgen Klopp leaving the team at the end of the month, many have believed that the defender could also leave the club from Anfield.
However, the Dutchman revealed that an immediate exit was not planned and that he would be happy to compete with Sky Blues for the EPL title in the next campaign.
“My future is not important right now,” the defender shared. “The only thing I can reveal at the moment is if I have a farewell, I will be emotional because that was something I was very surprised with Jurgen.
“These supporters are special, and eventually, when they say goodbye to you, then you will definitely cry. Even with Joel Matip, I told him: ‘How did you manage not to cry, my friend?’
