Virgil van Dijk thinks that the criticism of his club are ridiculous as the Reds ended their losing streak vs. Aston Villa. The Dutch star slammed the negativity during the tough run of the Reds that saw them lose 4 straight matches in the Premier League.
The Reds won 2-0 against Villa as Mo Salah and Ryan Gravenberch netted the winning goals. After the victory, captain Van Dijk spoke with the media and revealed this:
“What I read in the past several weeks is that a lot of people criticized us, and that is something that you can’t control.
“Most of the negativity was definitely unnecessary. But you can’t change what people are talking about. However, things like this can have an influence in the dressing room and affect the footballers with less experience.
“We never went out to lose matches, we didn’t want to feel down after another defeat and did everything possible to triumph during that period, but you can’t always win, as this is the Premier League and here play the best footballers in the world, and you can always suffer a defeat.”
