Ferrari’s performance at the Canadian Grand Prix and the qualifying of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz finally brought a smile to the face of team boss Frédéric Vasseur.
“It was a good race – commented the Frenchman. – On Friday, we showed that we have a good pace – for qualification and the race. But on Saturday it was much more difficult because of the weather conditions. We did well in the race, we had a good strategy. We knew we could be fast, and in the last 30 laps we were at the pace of Hamilton and Alonso. I think it’s a big step forward, the improvements we’ve made are definitely working.”.
“We have to try to correct the mistakes we make, we will discuss this with the team on Tuesday – confirmed the head of the Scuderia. – We are still chasing the perfect weekend that will bring us even better results. In Austria it will be different, there we will also have new things for the car and when the package is ready we will try to go further. I don’t want to say that our team is ready to win a race, but we are working in that direction.”
