Fernando Alonso finished off a strong second, two tenths behind the Red Bull driver with a time of 1:29.811.
The other Red Bull of Sergio Perez came third, a tenth adrift from Alonso.
The surprise of the session were definately Alpine, who finished 4th with Esteban Ocon and 6th with Pierre Gasly, less than a tenth behind his teammate, as both drivers were seperated by the Mercedes of George Russel in 5th.
Canadian Lance Stroll, in the sister Aston Martin, came off 7th, with the Haas of Nico Hulkenberg trailing him in 8th.
It was another disappointing session by Ferrari, as the Scuderia team could only manage 9th with Charles Leclerc and 10th with Carlos Sainz.
Lewis Hamilton finished behind the two scarlet cars, as his first run with the soft tires was impeeded by yellow flags.
As the sun faded and temperatures dropped dristically, drivers found themselves in much cooler condition, compared to the stagnant heat in FP1. Therefore, the times from this session are more likely to be representitive for qualifying tomorrow and the race on Sunday.
