Max Verstappen was full of praise for Lando Norris’ performance in Brazil.
The Brit was the closest challenger to the reigning world champion and even had a go at him in the early stages of the race.
The McLaren driver made a stellar start from P6 and P2 and looked set to upset Verstappen, but after his early attack his pace faded and the Dutchman managed to pull away.
Nevertheless Norris manage to finish a comfortable P2, almost 30 second in front of third-place Fernando Alonso and even recorded the fastest lap.
“But yeah, he gave it a good run – that lap where I had to defend, it was close and he got by me, but I think also Lando realised I have to save my tyres to make sure we make it to the end of the stint in the best possible way.” Verstappen said.
Norris bagged his 6th second place of the season and brought crucial points for McLaren in their fight with Aston Martin for P4 in the Constructors.
