Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez came a distant second, some six tenths behind the double-world champion.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso came in third, almost a second behin Verstappen, with Canadian teammate Lance Stroll in 4th, just a couple hundreds of the 41-year old’s time, emphasizing the British-based team’s incredible progress.
The Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton rounded off the top 5, with a time of 1:29.568, just a tenth off Aston Martin’s performance. His teammate George Russel could only manage 11.
Ferrari were the last team to put on the soft compound tyre and, therefore, set a representitive time, which was enough to see Charles Leclerc finish in P6, while Carlos Sainz had to settle for P10.
It was another clean sweep for Verstappen, who topped all three practice sessions and barring any technical issues the Dutchman’s first pole position at the Jeddah circuit looks more of a inevitability than a possibility.
