Max Verstappen will start Sunday’s Austrian Grand Prix from 1st position after his lap of 1:04.391 was sufficient to secure him his 23rd career pole.
Next to him on the front row will line the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc – the Monegasque missing out on pole position by just 48 thousands of a second.

Leclerc’s teammate Carlos Sainz completed the top 3, giving the Tifosi plenty to cheer about.
The surprise of the session was definitely Lando Norris, as he outqualified the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and both Aston Martins, who will line up in 6th for Lance Stroll and 7th for Fernando Alonso.
Sergio Perez endured yet another dismal qualifying session as the Mexican finished in a shocking 15th place, after seeing his time deleted due to track limits.
Tomorrow the sprint race will get underway with the sprint shootout before that, determining the grid for the sprint.
