Two-time world champion Max Verstappen stated that the circuit in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia is more dangerous than Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. The Dutchman’s words come days after a fatal accident at Spa in which 18-year-old Formula Regional driver Dylano Van’t Hoff lost his life in an accident.
“It’s certainly quite a dangerous turn, but we’re also going very fast in Jeddah. Personally, I consider this place more dangerous,” said Verstappen.
“The circuit in Jeddah is much more dangerous than Spa. I’m happy that nothing has happened yet in the first sector, going through [turns] 6, 7, 8. If you have problems there, the exact same thing can happen – all the corners are blind, so you don’t know what’s coming .”
This is the second fatal accident at Spa in four years. In 2019, F2 driver Antoine Hubert lost his life after a crash at the Belgian circuit.
