Max will start from the 1st position tomorrow at the race.

After a historical qualifying session with 6 red flags in Azerbaijan, Max Verstappen stopped Carlos Sainz from getting a surprising pole position as Oscar Piastri crashed out.

Max secured back-to-back pole positions in a shocking qualifying session that will be remembered with 6 red flags – something that has never happened before.

With Sainz, Liam Lawson, and Isack Hadjar starting to set laps in Q3, and it began to rain, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc hit the barrier at Turn 15, and the qualifying session was stopped as no other driver was able to finish a lap time.

As the race resumed, Lando and Max were setting fastest sector times, but shockingly, Oscar hit the barrier at Turn 3 to cause a second red flag with less than 4 minutes until the end of the qualifying session.

After the session resumed again, Verstappen overcame Sainz by just under half a second and will start from the pole position in tomorrow’s race in Azerbaijan.

Lawson made his 2nd lap faster than his 1st and that secured him the 3rd starting position in Baku ahead of both Mercedes bolids.
