Max Verstappen clinched his 2nd Monaco Grand Prix victory, his 4th of the season and 39th overall in his career, all with the Red Bull machinery.
With that the Dutchman now stands in front of Sebastian Vettel’s 38 victories and is the the driver with most wins for Red Bull.
“If you have a good car for a while, you can break these kinds of numbers,” he said.
“But yeah, it’s great. I mean, I would have never thought that I would be in this position in my career. When I grew up, I wanted to be a Formula 1 driver and winning these races is amazing. It’s better than I could have ever imagined, for sure.”
Verstappen win count is rapidly increasing in the last two years with the 25-year old registering 29 of his 39 victories from 2021 onwards, which approximates at around 60% win rate.
It underlines just how powerful the Red Bull has been and what big steps they have made after trailing massively to Mercedes in the 2014-2020 period.
Next up on the road for the reigning champion is the win number of the great Ayrton Senna, who sits 5th in the all-time ranking with 41 wins, just 2 ahead of Verstappen.
