Max passed pole sitter Lando Norris into Turn One but watched Mercedes pilot Russell sweep around the outside of both of them.
However, that lasted only 2 laps and Max dominance continued as the Mercedes driver outside the podium.
Lando appeared to be the fastest pilot in Barcelona for much of the race but his awful start, the 1st laps that he spent behind Russell and a bad final pit stop all combined cost him the opportunity to finish 1st.
“Should have triumphed,” Norris shared after the end of the Spanish GP. “I f—– the start. That’s what cost me”.
Lando finished 2.2 seconds behind Max, who’s victory opened up his championship lead to 69 points, but Norris is now in the 2nd place of the standings.
