Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Wes Phillips faced legal trouble when he was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after being pulled over for speeding on a Minneapolis interstate highway.
The 44-year-old Phillips, behind the wheel of a Tesla Model S, was stopped around 9:45 p.m. on Friday on Interstate 394, according to Minnesota State Patrol Lt. Jill Frankfurth. Frankfurth mentioned that Phillips “showed signs of impairment,” and a subsequent test revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.10%, exceeding the legal limit of 0.08% in Minnesota.
Phillips was taken into custody and booked at the Hennepin County jail on charges of driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor. Records from the jail indicate that he posted $300 bond and was released at 1:26 a.m., approximately 2 1/2 hours after the booking. A court appearance has been scheduled for Dec. 21.
