Villarreal won against Barcelona 5-3 at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in a match with a lot of comebacks and drama as that was the Yellow Submarine 1st victory in their last 4 matches in the league.
The away side took a 2-goal lead after goals from Gerard Moreno in the end of the 1st half and Ilias Akhomach at the beginning of the 2nd half but but after that, the Catalan team scored 3 goals within 11 minutes to take the lead for the 1st time in the clash.

Ilkay Gundogan scored in the 60th minute for 2-1 and then Pedri with his goal in the 68th minute tied the match. Eric Bailly scored an own goal and Xavi’s team took the lead – 3-2 in the 71st minute.
However, that wasn’t all. Another epic comeback this time from Villarreal as Goncalo Guedes netted in the 84th minute for 3-3.
In the extra time, the referee gave a penalty for Barca but after seeing the situation again in the VAR monitor, he overturned it. Alexander Sorloth scored in the 99th minute for 4-3 for the Yellow Submarine after a comical mistake in Barca’s defense as Jose Luis Morales added another goal for the away team in the 101st minute for the final 5-3.
Barcelona overcame an 0-2 deficit to take a 3-2 lead in the 71st minute.

Barcelona are in 3rd place with 44 points after 21 matches and after today’s defeat, Xavi’s side is 10 points behind the leader Real Madrid.
Villarreal are in 14th place with 23 points after 21 games after the epic victory today.
