With the main event of UFC 284 between Russia’s Islam Malkhachev and Australia’s Alexander Volkanovski being promoted as a fight to determine the UFC’s top pound-for-pound fighter, it may come as a large surprise to many to learn that top two slots remain unchanged.

Malkhachev’s unanimously defeated Volkanovski but still the Autsralian would keep the top spot in the rankings.

The Russian had considered his placement at the number 1 pound-for-pound position a foregone conclusion after beating Volkanovski, but this has proven not to be the case.
Another change this week has seen Jon Jones (number 10) swap places with Jiri Prochazka.
