Washington hiring former Leafs assistant Carbery as manager

The Washington Capitals will appoint Spencer Carbery as the franchise’s new head coach. He was Toronto Maple Leafs assistant coach in the last 2 years.

This will not come as a huge surprise to many, but hearing Washington is closing in on Spencer Carbery as its next head coach.

Carbery went back to Washington after being there for 3 seasons from 2018 to 21 as the manager of their affiliate, the Hershey Bears.

Capitals didn’t offer a new contract to manager Peter Laviolette as his deal with the franchise was until June 30^th.

The franchise from the USA capital was not part of the postseason in the NHL for the 1^st time since 2014, which was 9 years ago.
