Charles Leclerc gave his view on the event of the Monaco Grand Prix and his team performance.
The 25-year-old didn’t hide his disappointment when discussing the eventual result.
“The pace wasn’t great today. I mean, it was actually quite good on the hard [tyres]. On the slicks it was good, but there is nothing to do here. It was basically a waiting game and then, when we started to push, the tyres had gone away a little bit.”
Leclerc received a three-place grid penalty for impeding in qualifying, which demoted him from his original grid slot in 3rd down to 6th. And it would prove costly as the tight, twisty streets of Monacodo not allow much of an overtaking.
Still, Leclerc pointed out Ferrari’s lack of pace, rather than the offbeat result.
“We are not happy with where we are,” he said.
“We’ve got a lot of work to do to recover performance, because for now we’re just too far away.”
