According to former Formula 1 driver Mark Webber, the dominance that his former team Red Bull has shown since the start of the 2023 season is very difficult for people outside the team to understand.
Since the beginning of the year, Red Bull is yet to lose a single race or sprint and logically lead convincingly in both championships. Max Verstappen, who has ten wins in 12 starts, leads the drivers’ standings with team-mate Sergio Perez second. The difference between the two is as much as 125 points, and Red Bull’s lead over Mercedes among constructors is 256 points.
“I think it’s really hard for people to comprehend that level of dominance. How much work and effort is required from everyone. That’s the important thing, you have to show respect where it’s due. To have such an advantage in a sport like Formula 1, where so many things – the stops, the reliability, the pilot errors, the performance of the car – can go wrong is rare. The last time that happened was in 1988,” Webber said.
