The Hammers had to work hard as Olympiacos proved a difficult team to crack.
David Moyes men had to wait until the 73th minute, when Lucas Paqueta broke the deadlock and gave the hosts a much needed 1-0 lead.
From there on, West Ham managed to hold on despite an extensive pressure from the Greece team. They were more or less lucky as the visitors looked sloppy in the final third and finished the game with zero shots on target.
Victory means huge deal for the Hammers as it cements their place atop of Group A with 9 points out of possible 12. They only need two more points from the next two games to guarantee themselves a spot in the knockout phase of the Europa League.
