Toto Wolf admitted that he remains realistic about Mercedes chances in the upcoming race in Brazil.
The Silver Arrows had a strong outing in Mexico with Lewis Hamilton grabbing an impressive P2.
However, Wolff believes that it doesn’t necessarily means they will challenge for victory in Sao Paolo.
“We’ve showed encouraging pace in recent races so [we] head to Interlagos with cautious optimism, although we know W14 can prove unpredictable.” Wolff said.
“We came away from Mexico with our advantage over Ferrari in the fight for second in the Constructors’ intact. That is an important battle for us and one we are focused on winning.”
Mercedes are currently engulfed in a heated battle with Ferrari for P2 in the Constructors and every point matters. Hamilton is also eyeing second place in the Drivers Standings as he sits only 20 points off Sergio Perez.
