Anthony Edwards scored 29 points, including decisive 11 in the final quarter

Anthony Edwards proved crucial again with 29 points, including 11 fourth-quarter points, leading the Minnesota Timberwolves to a decisive 101-86 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday night. With this win, the Timberwolves claimed sole possession of the top spot in the Western Conference.

Karl-Anthony Towns contributed significantly with 28 points, propelling Minnesota to rebound from their previous loss to Milwaukee on Friday. Impressively, the Timberwolves now hold a 5-2 record this season on the second night of back-to-back games.

Cam Thomas led the scoring for the Brooklyn Nets with 18 points, while Mikal Bridges, the team’s leading scorer, added 15 points. Despite their efforts, the Nets, now 0-2 under interim head coach Kevin Ollie, couldn’t overcome the Timberwolves’ dominance.

The victory places the Timberwolves half a game ahead of the idle Oklahoma City in the competitive Western Conference standings. This win marks a significant achievement for Minnesota as they aim to maintain their position at the top. The Nets, on the other hand, face challenges under the leadership of interim coach Kevin Ollie, succeeding Jacques Vaughn, who was dismissed during the All-Star break.
