Alex de Minaur secured the biggest victory of his career by defeating world number 1 Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-4 in the opening singles match of the quarterfinal clash between Australia and Serbia at the United Cup.
In Perth, De Minaur was virtually flawless on his own serve, winning 33 points out of 34 first-serve attempts and denying any break opportunities to his opponent throughout the one-hour and 33-minute match. The 24-year-old Australian, on the other hand, managed to break Djokovic’s serve once in both sets, sealing a clean victory. Overall, the Serbian struggled to secure just eight points on De Minaur’s serve.
