Xavi has had a change of heart regarding his departure from Barcelona at the end of the season, opting instead to extend his tenure as head coach. The former midfielder, who took over the role in 2021, had previously announced his intention to step away, citing challenges and a perceived lack of respect.
However, following discussions with club president Joan Laporta, Xavi has decided to reverse his decision. In a press conference, he expressed confidence in the support from the president, board, and players, emphasizing that the project at Barcelona is not yet complete.
“I changed my mind because I really felt total confidence from the president, from the board and the players too. This project isn’t finished yet,” Xavi stated.
“I am 100% committed. The trust they have placed in me again is spectacular. Let’s get to work.”

He acknowledged the strength of the team and his staff, stating his belief in their ability to achieve significant goals together and continue the project they have started. Despite a challenging season where Barcelona are trailing Real Madrid by 11 points in La Liga and suffered a crushing defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, Xavi remains committed to the club’s future success.
