Alexander Zverev won the ATP 250 tennis tournament title in Chengdu. In the final in the Chinese city, the number 1 seeded Zverev beat Russian Roman Safiullin 6:7(2), 7:6(5), 6:3 in exactly three hours of play.
Zverev won his second trophy of the year and the 21st of his career. In the first set of the match, there were no breaks as Zverev was closer to one, who had three consecutive set points at 5:4, but Safiullin saved his service and then won the tiebreak with 7:2 points.
Riding the momentum, Safiullin broke early in the second set to take a 2-0 lead. However, Zverev managed to find his best game and in the very next game he returned the break. Thus, the second set also went to a tiebreak, in which this time Zverev emerged victorious with 7:5 points.
