Before anyone asked him anything at his annual pre-draft news conference, San Francisco 49ers GM John Lynch did his best to avoid drama with the most important thing over the organization this offseason: WR Brandon Aiyuk’s deal situation.
The general manager started today’s session thanking the 49ers department for their hard work ahead of the draft. John after that talked about Brandon before receiving multiple questions about the wide receiver.
“I shared many times in the past with the media: we want him in San Francisco and part of the 49ers for the rest of his career,” the general manager claimed. “We’re working to make it happen … I can reveal we’re having good discussions, but I won’t share more details at the moment.”
In his opening statement, the GM shared that he and the manager Shanahan didn’t plan to trade Brandon and that he will play for the Niners in the upcoming season.
#49ers GM John Lynch says they’re having “good talks” with WR Brandon Aiyuk and they’re “working through” being a part of the team “for the rest of his career.” Again, there’s been no trade request from Aiyuk. A long-term deal with the team is in play. pic.twitter.com/5ozJ029oLM
