Philadelphia 76ers basketballer Jared McCain sustained a UCL tear in his right thumb in a workout today, the franchise revealed, as he could miss the beginning of the new campaign.
The guard and the team are working with specialists to determine how would be the best way for him to heal.

Jared (21) is coming off averaging over 15 points in 23 matches in the past campaign after being the 16th overall selection in last year’s draft before suffering a meniscus tear, and a procedure in December ended his campaign.
The guard was expected to be a key player for the Sixers as he could have played alongside All-Star Tyrese Maxey or played a significant amount of time from the bench.
His minutes now will be going to Quentin Grimes as he is returning this campaign to the 76ers. The organization is already dealing with uncertain problems involving both superstars in the team, Joel Embiid and Paul George. There was no update about Joel’s status after he had a left knee procedure this spring and hasn’t been on the court since February, after finishing the past season with only 19 matches.
