AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni is confident the Rossoneri will make a big splash in the transfer market next summer if they progress in the Champions League and finish in the top four this season. He is hopeful for the club’s future after the shareholders’ meeting approved the 2022-23 financial statement, posting a net profit for the first time in 17 years.
“When I arrived in July 2018, there was a storm. The financial results were disastrous and the sporting results were mediocre. From there we started a path that took us to the Champions League and allowed us to win the Scudetto. Today we celebrate a net profit which, apart from exceptional parts, has not been recorded since the era of Nereo Rocco. We have doubled the revenue, reaching 400 million euros. We have improved in all sectors and built a competitive team with a bright future. The whole club has proven to be very effective,” Scaroni said.
“I hope to bring a big name to the club next summer. You know that sporting results affect financial results. If Milan do well in the Champions League and qualify there again next season, we will be more sustainable with significant income. In at this point we could look at the market in a different way. If the revenue allows us to improve our budget and have stronger players with long-term contracts, we will do it,” he added.
